Tuesday, February 13, 2024
1:00 to 2:30 pm

It is no longer a question of whether a crisis will happen in an organization: it is only a matter of when, which type and how it will occur. Leaders need to think about the unthinkable as a way to protect their organizations. Whether it is a natural disaster, economic attack, reputational threat, or other crisis, the better you can anticipate it, the better you can manage it.

Coaching Skills for Leaders and Managers

How do you make sure your team members achieve their fullest performance potential? How do you empower them with skills and tools to do the job instead of telling them how to do it?

Coaching is one of the key components of managing modern teams. It is a model in which managers ask questions and give support and guidance rather than instruction. In turn, staff members respond in ways that unleash fresh energy and creativity.

This interactive workshop will teach managers effective coaching techniques and when to use them to maximize employee learning and growth.

In this workshop, you will:

· Learn the difference between directing, mentoring, advising and coaching, and when to use each
· Understand a coaching model that can be followed in a coaching conversation
· Learn to identify coaching opportunities and practice coaching in real work situations
· Improve your skills and expertise as a leader/manager

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Workshop Series

Many organizations are asking what they can do to respond to bias, discrimination, and workplace inequities in the current moment. Recent social and racial justice movements have challenged organizations to look within to build more diverse, inclusive workplaces and ultimately, more equitable communities.

This series is intended to educate, guide, and inspire participants to learn how to embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion as fundamental values – and how to reflect them in the operations of their organizations. Separate registration for each session. Discounts available if you register for all three sessions (use promo codes as directed).

April 15, 2021
9-11am

First in three-part series, Challenging Unconscious Bias in the Workplace introduces the concept of unconscious bias and how it functions in a workplace environment. Understanding this is foundational to creating a culture of diversity and inclusion.

Negative forms of unconscious bias often show up as non-inclusive behaviors like verbal and non-verbal slights and insults that are often conveyed out of ignorance or even with good intentions.

Common non-inclusive behaviors in the workplace will be examined as well as their negative effects on productivity, teamwork, employee well-being, and retention. Using interactive scenarios, participants will examine the harms caused by non-inclusive behaviors and learn how to adopt leading practices to create an affirming and inclusive workplace culture.

May 20, 2021
9-11am

Second in three-part series, Recruiting Diverse Talent introduces to effective measures for increasing the diversity of job applicant pools. Participants will explore various aspects of talent recruitment–the way job ads are written, the places they are advertised, job application forms, and how traditional methods can deter diverse applicants from applying. They will learn about barriers that commonly reduce the diversity of applicants and what organizations can do to minimize them. Data-informed leading practices that increase the diversity of applicant pools will be presented.

June 17, 2021
9-11am

Third in a three-part series, Retaining Diverse Talent will examine how workplaces can create a culture of inclusion and belonging to retain a diverse workforce. Participants will learn how negative workplace climates, biased supervisory processes, and minimal opportunities for advancement work together to create a revolving door for historically underrepresented employees. Participants will learn how to make data-informed adjustments to increase the retention of diverse employees and to develop inclusive practices that give underrepresented employees a greater sense of belonging.
