Literacy Volunteers of Cayuga County, Inc.
17 Nelson St. SERVICES: Basic Literacy – This program is for adults 16 years of age and older who desire to increase their reading skills. Literacy Volunteers provides free, one-on-one, confidential tutoring. Students are marched with a trained volunteer tutor. They work together to define the student’s goals and design lesson plans that will help students accomplish their objectives. English As A Second Language – This program is for adults who are new speakers of English and are interested in improving their conversational speaking and listening stills. Literacy Volunteers provides free, one-on-one tutoring. Students are matched with a trained volunteer tutor. They work together to define the student’s goals and design lesson plans that will help students accomplish their objectives. SUPPORT: United Way, New York State Education Department, Allyn Foundation, and Individual Contributions. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Tutors and Office Staff needed. HOURS: Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 4:00pm (Tutoring sessions arranged by tutor and student). |
